What do you want from me…blood?!
Well blood isn’t actually on offer (although for the right price I’ll consider it) but I still want to know what you want from this blog. In fact, I want to know what you want from a business blog, in particular a blog about improving your business website.
You see, I watch my RSS subscribers go up and down on a daily basis. Yes, I said down. That means that when I gain a few subscribers, I also seem to lose a few subscribers. This I don’t like one bit and it obviously means I’m not giving you what you want and expect.
So what is it that you want and expect?
My goals are to teach you how to improve your website and to make it enjoyable. So how am I doing? Should I have different goals? Grade me, leave a comment, drop me an email (c r a i g at c o n n e x t e d dot c o m). Whatever works for you.
Because I can’t improve unless I know what you want. And the only way I can find that out is by asking.
So I asked, let’s see if anyone out there is willing to reply…

Hi Craig
I just thought I’d pop in and have a browse around and I see that you are as keen for comments as me.
So let me give you an answer to what I’d want from a blog about improving websites (or even making them betterer…is there such a word?)
First I have a problem. A lot of my pages seem to have dropped out of the Google index and my keyword has bombed from a high of 4 on Google.com to appearing on page 10.
Hopefully both these are temporary glitches that the mighty G throws out from time to time but all tips are gratefully received.
Second I suspect that the number one thing that anyone wants with a website is traffic, from any or every source.
We all want visitors.
Third we want to engage with our visitors and start the conversion process.
It starts by boosting the email sign-ups and, if it is a blog, with comments before moving on to something where there is some money.
Fourth it’s always nice to be entertained

Hi Paul,
Thanks for the comment. Yes, us bloggers always like to hear back from our readers.
For your problem. I’d make sure you have a Google Webmaster Tools account. Using this you can see if Google has any problems with your URLs and it’ll help you fix them. But I’d say it’s probably just a temporary Google shuffle and hopefully it’ll settle down soon. If it’s not cleared up in a few weeks you may have a bigger problem…if so, come back and I’ll take more of a look.
Thanks for the tips as well. Hopefully I’m hitting most of those points already…I do try! But if there’s anything missing people are free to let me know.
Thanks again,
Craig
